Daniel Tolhurst (PMR at Toachim House) won the De Laune CC 25-mile time trial, staged on the Q25/20 course near Harrietsham in Kent on Sunday.

He clocked 54.02 to win by 45 seconds from veteran Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined Aerosmiths), going 36 seconds quicker than the time he posted for the same course in the West Kent RC a fortnight earlier, where he placed third.

Among other results this season for Tolhurst are victory in the Kent CA 100 in June, as well as second in CC Bexley’s 10 in May and third in the West Kent RC 25 on the same course as the De Laune CC event.

The podium was completed by Mike Piper (Abellio SFART) who was another two minutes adrift of Tolhurst with 56.47, while in other categories Meilak was the best veteran on standard with a plus of 13.15.

Top junior was Rye and District Wheelers’ Joshua Clark with 1:00.38, while the women’s prize went to Keeley Chalk (PMR at Toachim House) with 1:10.35.

Although the morning threatened rain to start with by the time the riders were due to start the clouds had scudded over with the rising westerly wind, in fact the sun actually came out as the last riders left the start timekeeper.
