Ryan Davies (GS Henley) and Mary-Jane Hutchinson (Bristol South CC) were among the winners as Reading CC staged the Colin Roberts Memorial 10-mile time trial on the H10/1 course between Aldermaston and Woolhampton on Saturday.

Davies clocked 20-22 to take the overall win by 30 seconds from Redmon CC’s Eddie Allen, while Matthew Charlton (Farnborough and Camberley CC) was third fastest, another ten seconds adrift.

And in the women’s event, Mary-Jane Hutchinson clocked 26.33 to win by just over two minutes from Pippa O’Brien (700cc), with Jan Farmer (Serpentine Running Club) third.

Fareham Wheelers were celebrating after Alan Emmott won the prize for the best veteran on standard, his time of 23.42 being 5.10 over his age standard. Hefin Jones (Newbury RC) clocked 21.18 to place fourth overall and finish second in the veterans on standard category.

The event was greeted by bright sun and a light westerly breeze, although some heavy conditions made things difficult for some at roundabouts.
