Scratch rider Darren Maironis (Coveryourcar.co.uk RT) snatched victory by four seconds in the Seamons CC 25.

Despite windy conditions times the slow J2/9 course were surprisingly fast with Maironis going the quickest clocking a 54.24.

The event was also round 17 of the Cheshire points series in which the veteran has already won the Stretford Wheelers 25 in clocking a 53.38 on that occasion.

The course consists of one-and-a-half laps of a looped circuit taking riders north on the A535 towards Knutsford before looping back down the A50.

This time he edged John Morgan (Preston Whls) into second, who clocked 54.28.

The battle for third was won by host club rider Adrian Hughes in 55.38 from Peter Walker (Leigh Premier Road Club) 55.50.

The women's event was equally as close with Vision Racing team-mates Claire Harrison and Jayne Dickens battling it out for the victory.

It was Dickens who took the win by four seconds in a time of 1:02.48.
