Charles Taylor (Team Bottrill) broke the old event record by around four minutes as he scored a convincing victory in the Dukinfield CC 50-mile time trial on the J4/16 near Goostrey in Cheshire on Saturday.

The 34-year-old clocked 1:44.51 for the course which follows an anti-clockwise loop from Cranage and up to Chelford, Ollerton and back down the A50.

Second spot went to Simon Wilson (The Nab Racing) with 1:46.14, while the podium was rounded off by Darren Maironis (Cover Your Car) who clocked 1:50.44.

Rachel Hall (VC St Raphael) was fastest female by around three minutes with her time of 2:06.38, beating Manchester Tri rider Anna Weaver into second.

Neil Skellern bagged sixth overall, and was also the fastest veteran on standard with a plus of 26.07. Meanwhile, his wife Lynne Skellern (Macclesfield Wheelers) won the handicap prize with 1:30.51.

The event was run off on a warm and sunny afternoon, with light rain showers proving welcome for the later riders. It later turned heavier, but the race was over by that point.

There was also an event record broken in the team category, with Seamons CC winning thanks to Adrian Hughes, Chris SIepen and Martin Wiggan.
