Matthew Davies (Rhino Velo) edged to a new course record in the Ludlow CC 10, staged on the R10/6b course near Brimfield in Herefordshire on Saturday.

Davies clocked 19.56 to slice just two seconds from Andy Bason’s old mark for the course and take a deserved win by 36 seconds on a challenging day which featured wind and early snow and sleet which developed into rain as the event progressed.

Davies, who was fifth in the Wrekinsport hilly 18 in February, topped a podium which also featured JLT Condor professional road rider Luke Grivell-Mellor in second, while Wyre Forest CRC’s Jon Howard was third, another ten seconds off the pace.

Meanwhile, the fastest female was Sarah Lloyd-Stephens (Hereford Wheelers) with 24.41, which was 49 seconds than Pauline Ann Hughes (Revolutions Racing).

Jon Howard was also the fastest in the veterans A category, while top junior was Devon Round (Mid-Shropshire Wheelers) with 21.48 which was 46 seconds quicker than his nearest rival Sam Morris (Revolutions Racing).
