The Knight Composites Classic Series heads the listings this weekend when Round 2, promoted by 3C Cyclexperience at Pilley, near Lymington, Hampshire.

The usual mixture of riders take part on Sunday with Matthew Bottrill (Team Bottrill-Vanguard) the leading entry in the Men’s event where Gary Chambers (NOPINZ) and Samuel Wadsley (Primera-Teamjobs) oppose.

With Round 1 women’s winner Hayley Simmonds on England duty at the Commonwealth Games Jackie Field (CC Ashwell) could well challenge for number one spot. Angela Carpenter (A3crg), Courtney Edmonds (Bike Jockey CC), Victoria Smith (AeroCoach) and long-time Series supporter Tina Reid (Trainsharp) also compete.

Peter Nicholls (Race Hub) defends his lead in the Veteran class after winning the opening leg of the Classic Series at Longnor, however, Simon McNamara (South Downs Bikes-Casco Europe) and Daryl May (Sheffrec CC) may push him.

Junior Kieran Morris (Oswestry Paragon), third at Longnor, faces Adam Jarps (Team Bottrill) over the 17.8 miles they, the women and Paracyclists battle over. The Men and Espoirs cover three laps of a 8.9-mile circuit.

The Manchester Wheeler’s Colin Lynch, a Series regular, goes for the Paracycling honours.

Event Headquarters are at Boldre War Memorial Hall, Pilley, Lymington, with the first rider away at 9.01, Bottrill is due off at 10.22.

OTHER WEEKEND EVENTS

The Nelson Wheelers 50-mile Circuit of the Dales at Ingleton features JLT Condor’s James Gullen, Dean Robson (Northover VT-Rudy Project), Phillip Graves (NOPINZ), Ben Lane and Carl Donaldson, of GS Metro, Andy Jackson (AeroCoach), Gethin Butler (Preston Wheelers) and Rebecca Rimmington (Team Merlin) and among the women.

 

The Icknield RC Hilly 18.6-miles has Ben Stowe (Arctic Tacx RT) and Luke Clarke (TMG Horizon CT): Keith Murray (Drag2Zero) lines up for the Stockton Wheelers Sporting `23`: Brett Harwood (Team Bottrill) can be seen at the Spalding CC `18` while 25-mile record holder Marcin Bialoblocki (NOPINZ) is down for the Revo Racing `25`.
