Bell and Greenwood victorious in Yorkshire

Tom Bell and Monica Greenwood took wins at the Holme Valley Wheelers hill climb in Yorkshire on Saturday.

Bell recorded the quickest overall time, the High North Performance rider’s third win of the season.

After winning the Ilkeston CC hill climb on the 6th of September, the 30-year-old went on to win the Velo Club Cumbria event on the 26th of September and now adds this event to his tally.

Bell has occupied all three steps of the podium in his last three rides, finishing third at the Cleveland Wheelers event on the 27th of September before finishing second at the Cestria CC hill climb on October 3rd but he went one better here, powering to a fantastic win in a time of 7:32.6.

Second on the podium was Jude Taylor of Crimson Orientation Marketing RT in a time of 8:16.5, making Tom bell a comfortable winner.

Francis Woodcock, a junior rider for Team SB Hub was took third place in a time of 8:29.9, making hi top junior.

Juvenile rider Oliver Akers of Garden Shed UK Scott Verge-Sport produced an impressive ride to finish fourth in 8:31.

Monica Greenwood, 31, of Macclesfield Wheelers was the fastest female rider on the day in a time of 10:05.5.

Under-23 rider Hannah Bayes of Liv AWOL was 43.5 seconds down in second place with Josie Cram (PMRR) third in a time of 11.06.

In 14th place, David Barnett (Jackpot Racing) took the veterans prize in a time of 9.49. Brian Whiteley of Doncaster Wheelers CC was second veteran in a time of 10:28.9 and Thijs Guerts of Macclesfield Wheelers completed the veterans podium in a time of 10: 58.4.

The event was run on the V997 course, starting at approximately 0.6 mile west of Holme village and 130 yards west of the bridge on the a6024.

The climb continues in a westward direction for 1.3 miles to finish at an altitude of 524m. It takes in a 655 foot climb with an average gradient of 9.54%.
