Cris Coxon and Tracey Williams were fastest man and fastest woman respectively on time trial bikes at the Central Sussex CC 10-mile on Saturday morning, while fastest overall was James Boyman riding a road bike.

Hoops Velo rider Boyman opted to enter on a road bike, with his time of 22-20 ensuring he finished ahead of Brighton Mitre’s Coxon who clocked 22-53, while Coxon’s clubmate Paul Thatcher was 11 seconds back in 24-04.

In the women’s event Williams ensured a good day for Brighton Mitre CC as she completed the course in 29-20 to finish as first female, while the club also secured top team honours thanks to the efforts of Coxon, Thatcher and Jack Smith.

The host club also had a number of impressive rides, including 81-year-old stalwart Alan Robinson who finished the course in 36-29 on a road bike.

This was the first time trial held by Central Sussex CC on their new course at Pease Pottage, West Sussex, with 19 riders across road bike and time trial events enjoying the best of windless Easter sunshine with temperatures rising from 12 to 14 degrees.

The route, on course GS/186, begins with a 3 miles circuit to go back through the start and then a number of descents, complete with nagging rises, from 450 feet down to the turn at Roffey, Horsham at 100 feet, while the final 3.3 miles sees riders tackling the ascents through to the finish.
