Gareth Williams

Gareth Williams won a competitive men’s event, while Georgia Little was fastest female at the Reading CC 10-mile time trial in Berkshire on Sunday morning.

Twickenham CC rider Williams finished in 21-22, 40 seconds ahead of host club rider Gregory Woodford in 22-02 with clubmate Paul Whitehorne only four seconds back in 22-06 to clinch third and edge out fourth-placed Tom Quinlan by just one second.

There were just nine seconds between the second placed finisher and sixth placed finisher in what was a hotly contested ride.

Williams also managed to secure his first win since the North Hampshire RC 25-mile time trial held on course H25/8.

In the women’s event Little (HuntBikeWheels.com) secured a more comfortable success in 23-21 ahead of host club rider Teresa Robinson in 25-32, while a time of 26-11 helped her clubmate Julia Van Campden to seal third place.

The event, on course H10/1C, starts just east of Woolhampton and heads north east past Aldermaston Wharf on the A4 before encircling the roundabout just before Theale and retracing the course back past Aldermaston Wharf and finishing west of the start line on Bath Road.
