Nik Allen and Karen McGrath were the fastest male and female respectively at the Sussex CA 15-mile time trial that took place near Steyning in West Sussex on Saturday morning.

Allen (Worthing Excelsior CC) clocked a time of 32-14 to set the fastest time by any rider on the day.

The 47-year-old last achieved a podium finish at the Lewes Wanderers CC two-up 17.2 in October 2018 and will be hoping to add more to his record throughout the remainder of this campaign.

He is next set to ride at the a3crg 15 on June 26, which takes places near Greatham in Hampshire.

The good conditions saw Karen McGrath (Worthing Excelsior CC) clock a time of 40-04 to set the fastest time by a female rider.

McGrath adds this victory to the one she achieved at the Brighton Mitre CC 25 in April of this year and will be looking to add more to her record throughout the remaining months of the season.

Second place was clinched by Howard Bayley (Blazing Saddles) who finished his run with a time of 32-21 respectively.

Bayley last achieved a podium finish at the Brighton Mitre CC 25 in April where he finished third and is next due to ride the a3crg Mid-Summer 25 on the 19th of June.

Peter Tadros (trainSharp) clocked a time of 32-33 to finish third.

Engineering works and traffic light issues saw the course change. The new course incorporated the 19-minute single carriageway G10/97 course and short 15% incline hill before the riders made their way towards the finish.

A new veteran record was set also, with 66-year-old Chris Lord (Brighton Excelsior CC) clocking 34-05.
