It may be early in the season, but course records fell as riders showed great early season form at time trial events across the country.

David Janes (Wheels of Dorset) and Megan Dickerson (Bristol South CC) both set new marks for the U375 course near Nunney in Somerset, Janes clocking 19-34 to break the men’s record while Dickerson’s time of 22-53 was a new mark in the women’s course record.

Janes beat last year’s winner Dan Martin (Univ of Bath CC) into second spot on his way to victory, while Nick Livermore (Bristol South CC) was third.

Elsewhere, dry but breezy conditions welcomes riders to Leicestershire on Saturday for the Coalville Wheelers 10 near Griffydam.

Jessica Rhodes-Jones (AeroCoach) was the fastest female, the 28-year-old covering the A10/34 course in 24-11 to win the women’s prize by just over a minute.

And Loughborough Students CC rider Marinus Petersen was quickest overall, his time of 21-32 giving him the win by ten seconds from Hayden Allen (THRE Datawolves RT).

Lauren Dolan

Lauren Dolan and Josh Coyne triumphed in their first outing of the 2019 season at the City Cycle Couriers 10-mile time trial in Devon on Sunday morning.

Dolan (Mid-Devon CC) was around three and a half minutes quicker than her nearest rival with a time of 22-21, while 23-year-old Coyne’s time of 21-03 gave him the overall win by eight seconds.

Pat Wright and Katie Simmonds were fastest male and female riders at the Redhill CC sporting 18-mile time trial near Dorking in Surrey.

34-year-old Wright clocked 39-51 to win the event by 21 seconds from Liam Maybank (Twickenham CC), while in the women’s event Katie Simmonds (Horsham Cycling) was fastest in 53-13.

VC St Raphael staged a sporting 16.5-mile time trial with well supported categories for both time trial bikes and road bikes.

Jessica Finney (Cycle Team OnForm) and Chris McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport) were top female and male in the time trial category, while in the road bike event the winners were James Horton (VC St Raphael) and Angela Carpenter (a3crg).
