CTT Statement - National Hill Climb Championships

Cycling Time Trials would like to reassure riders competing in the National Hill Climb Championships on Sunday that the event will go ahead as planned, despite challenges and complications faced by the organising team.

The event on Bank Road in Matlock, Derbyshire, will benefit from a road closure which has been limited to three hours by Derbyshire County Council.

With little more than one week to go to the event, the council also gave the event organisers from Matlock CC notice that they required a traffic management plan to be in place which took considerable extra time to fulfil (and incidentally at an additional cost of £2,900).

The event was heavily over-subscribed, so just after the closing date on 11 October, the organisers contacted all entrants asking them to submit additional information. The selection criteria was based on this information, and a very experienced team of people spent more than six hours sorting through the information provided in an effort to be as fair as possible.

Event information and a full start sheet is available on the Cycling Time Trials website - https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/12821

Note: Cycling Time Trials at a “national” level, nor any of its officers, are responsible for the selection of riders in national championship events.
