Port Talbot Whs CC 13

Port Talbot Wheelers team-mates Ross Hamilton and Emma Davies showed their early season pace by winning the men’s and women’s events at the Port Talbot Wheelers 13.

Hamilton took his second win of the season riding clear of his opponents and stopping the clock in 29 minutes and 24 seconds.

The R13/S saw competitors start and finish near Glynneath in Glamorgan - heading out and back along the B4242 down to Aberdulais.

Hamilton also won the Cardiff 100 Miles RCC 15 last month and was again the victor here, finishing one minute and 30 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.

James McGrath (Virtual CC) led the chase behind stopping the clock in 30-54 which was 37 seconds faster than quickest veteran on scratch Martin Lightwood (The Tridents) in third (31-31).

The best veteran on standard was fourth placed Graham Rogerson (Port Talbot Wh) with his finishing time of 32-04 equating to +3.16.

In a dominant display by the Port Talbot Wheelers team Davies was the only female rider, stopping the clock in a respectable 36-17. Davies was also the second fastest veteran on standard with her time of 36-17 equating to +2.33

The two-up competition was won by a composite team of Robert Saunders (North Bucks RC) and Gerard Oram (Bynea CC) with the pair stopping the clock in 33-58.

A mixed gender pair consisting of Martin Edwards (Port Talbot Whs) and Stephanie Waring (Tenby Aces CC) were second in 35-12, while the Tenby Aces CC duo of Claire Thomas and David Poole finished third (33-58).
