Barrow Central Wheelers 20

David Powell was fastest male at the Barrow Central Wheelers 20.2-mile time trial in Cumbria on Sunday morning, while Christina Wiejak was quickest woman.

Horwich Cycling Club’s Powell dominated the field to finish almost five minutes off closest rival Richard Morgan with the promoting club rider second in 56-36, while his team-mate Edward Quick secured third in 57-27.

Having two of the top three reflected a good turnout from the host club, with 10 of the 17 entered riders representing the promoting outfit and five of the top six finishers from Barrow Central Wheelers.

Christina Wiejak, from Saint Piran, was fastest woman after finishing in 58-46, with Joanna Cebrat not starting the time trial.

This 20.2-mile event, run on the L201R Broughton Circuit course, starts on southbound side of Foxfield Road in Broughton-in-Furness, 100 yards from the A595, and proceeds south to the junction with A595 and turns left and continues on this road via Foxfield and Wreaks causeway towards Barrow-in-Furness, climbing Grizebeck hill.

At Lowick Green, riders turn sharp left onto A5092 and follow this through Wateryeat and Beckstones to Torver and then turns left at junction onto A593 and continue towards Broughton in Furness to finish by the dry-stone wall on left side of road approximately 100 yards from bend in road and 150 yards from Broughton sign.
