L10010 | CockermouthThe North Lancashire Time Trials Association (NLTTA) 100-mile time trial, held on Sunday in Cockermouth, showcased resilience as Chris Smart and Deborah Moss claimed open and women’s titles, respectively, despite brutal conditions. Organized on the L10010 course, this out-and-back circuit tested a determined field with gale-force winds and early rain.
Open and Women’s Victories
Chris Smart (GTR - Return To Life p/b Streamline) powered to victory with 3:33:01, outpacing Adam Taylor (Wigan Whs CC) at 3:46:13 and clubmate Marc Anderson at 3:46:52. Smart, fresh from a VC Cumbria 10-mile win the previous day, notched his fourth straight victory, following wins at the Scottish Veterans Time Trials Association 30-mile and 50-mile championships. He praised the field’s tenacity, saying, “A 100-mile TT is brutal, especially in gale-force winds—chapeau to all who finished.”
Deborah Moss (Springfield Financial Racing Team) secured the women’s title in 4:22:32, beating Cara Rawlinson (Tactic Sport UK Race Team) at 4:26:05 and Alexandra Noonan (Team VC) at 4:28:10. Also clinching the local NLTTA championship, Moss highlighted the wind’s impact at Embleton and thanked organiser Nigel Clementson and the marshals for their efforts in tough weather.
Category Highlights
Charles Carraz (Seamons CC) won the open road bike category at 4:27:13, while Stuart Day (Crewe Clarion Wheelers) led the open tricycle class at 4:31:47.
