David Mead (Team M.I. Racing Townsend Vehicle Hire) and Jude Mansfield (Birmingham Midland Cycling Club) claimed victory at the Eileen Sheridan Memorial 10-Mile Time Trial on 10 August 2025, hosted by Coventry Cycling Club in Warwickshire. Mead, with his fifth win of 2025, broke the 20-minute barrier with 19:46, while Mansfield topped the women’s category with 26:36, in a race honouring local legend Eileen Sheridan, a time trialling and record-breaking icon of the 1940s and 1950s.

Dominating the K10/10C Course

The K10/10C, a 10-mile looped circuit starting north of Frankton, heading east, turning westbound at London Road, and finishing on Oxford Road, offered a fast challenge. Mead, continuing his stellar season with wins at Royal Sutton, Droitwich, Wyre Forest, and Rugby RCC 10s, outpaced Ryan Witchell (George Fox Cycling Solutions ) (20:58) and Edward Anderson (Banbury Star Cyclists' Club) (21:10). Ash Miles (ABR Cycle Team) led the road bike category with 23:46. In the tandem event, Chris Ward (WardPerformanceUK.com) and Gillian Thorne (WardPerformanceUK.com) clocked 25:44.

Mansfield secured the women’s win, finishing ahead of Susan Oldham (Bicester Millennium CC) (27:25) and Lezley Moran (Redditch Road & Path CC) (32:39). The event, named for Sheridan—who broke all Women’s Road Records Association marks, including Land’s End to John o’ Groats—drew a competitive field celebrating her legacy.

Road Bike Category Highlights

The road bike category showcased grit, with Ash Miles (ABR Cycle Team) leading at 23:46, a strong performance among TT-heavy competition. Lezley Moran (Redditch Road & Path CC, 32:39) was the sole women’s road bike finisher, placing third overall in the women’s category. The category highlighted the growing appeal of road bike time trialling, with riders tackling the K10/10C’s loops under favourable conditions.

Age Group Highlights

The event celebrated talent across age groups, with Veteran categories (40+ in 5-year bands) showcasing endurance. In the open field, David Mead (AG 45-49) led overall, while Edward Anderson (AG 50-54) topped his band with 21:10. Eddie Humphreys (Nottingham Clarion CC) (AG 60-64) won his with 21:37, Joe Murray (Team M.I. Racing Townsend Vehicle Hire) (AG 65-69) with 22:19, and Graham Hewson (Birmingham Midland Cycling Club) (AG 70-74) with 31:16. Brian Lewis (Royal Dean Forest Cycle Club) (AG 85+) led his with 33:12. For women, Jude Mansfield (AG 55-59) dominated, with Susan Oldham (Bicester Millennium CC) (AG 60-64) in second. Lezley Moran (AG 60-64) rounded out the podium.

Future Ambitions

Mead’s fifth win strengthens his 2025 campaign, with more open events likely in sight. Mansfield’s victory adds to Birmingham Midland CC’s pride, honouring Sheridan’s legacy. Their performances on the K10/10C set the stage for future challenges.
