B Smith and J Cramb Trophies.

Course: Start top of Bishopton hill – A8 opposite entrance to former convent- proceed downhill westbound under railway bridge and take first left slip road westbound onto A8 at Westferry roundabout to begin first lap. Proceed westbound through first roundabout ( Langbank) on A8. At Woodhall roundabout take first exit onto Glasgow Road and proceed westbound for approx 1.5 miles to turn . Turn and retrace eastbound to Woodhall roundabout - take first exit onto A8 – proceed westbound to Newark roundabout. Turn at Newark roundabout and retrace eastbound to Woodhall roundabout- take second exit at woodhall roundabout and retrace eastbound to Langbank roundabout- take first exit at Langbank roundabout and proceed eastbound on A8 to exit at sliproad to Westferry roundabout- turn under flyover on Westferry roundabout and rejoin the A8 Westbound at slip road to begin second lap – retrace for second lap with finish on Westferry sliproad approx 50m before roundabout.

Margaret McMillan (Deeside Thistle Cycling Club SCIO) won the women's category by over two minutes at the St Christopher's CC & SVTTA 25-mile time trial / B Smith & J Cramb Trophies event in Scotland on 20 July 2025. Basil Monks (GTR Return to Life p/b Streamline) was the fastest overall with 49:29 in this exposed dual-carriageway challenge.

Women's Category Highlights and Results

Veteran McMillan claimed her fourth open win of the season with 1:03:31, following victories at Dooleys RT 25, Scotland District 25-mile Championship, and Kennoway RC 10. Liz Ball (Edinburgh RC) was second in 1:06:05, with Shona Girdwood (Coatbridge Clarion CC) third in 1:07:22.

Open Category Highlights and Results

Monks was one of three riders under 50 minutes, beating Oliver Pemberton (Vanelli-Project GO) by 12 seconds in his first open outing of 2025. Chris Smart (GTR - Return To Life p/b Streamline) took third as quickest veteran. Colin Johnston (Vanelli-Project GO) led juniors with 52:42, tying for eighth overall.

Monks builds on his Velopreda (Georgetown Cup) win last year. The WW25/01 course record over three seasons is Chris Smart's 48:44 from 2022.

The road bike contest was tight, with Greg Kerr (Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club) winning in 1:00:55—slower than his 59:28 victory last year—edging John Glass (West Lothian Clarion Cycling Club) by 36 seconds. Alex McPhee (Dooleys RT) took third in 1:15:34.

Course and Event Details

The WW25/01 course is an out-and-back along the A8 dual-carriageway from Bishopton Hill to outside Port Glasgow, with 18 metres more descent than ascent. Starting at Bishopton Hill top, it offers fast sections but exposed conditions.
