East Sussex CA 10 2020

Christopher McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport-London RT) continued his winning form by taking a clear victory in the East Sussex CA 10, while Anya Tamplin (URDT) was quickest woman.

McNamara, aged 45, started as scratch man of the 90 finishers field and stormed along the out and back course in a winning time of 19 minutes and 42 seconds.

Riders were treated to ideal conditions for the East Sussex CA 10 with little wind and the temperature warmed up throughout the morning.

The event saw riders start and finish outside East Hoathly before traveling south and then south easterly along the A22 before turning at Horsebridge for home.

After being beaten into second in the same event last season McNamara, who also won the Utag RT 10 last weekend, went one better on this occasion.

His finishing time of 19-42 was exactly 10 seconds quicker than on the same course last season.

Matthew Smith (Team TMC) led the fight for second clocking 20-21 which was just two seconds quicker than Howard Shaw (trainSharp) in 20-23.

Fastest junior was 16-year-old Lukas Nerurkar (VC de Londres) who finished was seventh overall with a time of 21-06.

Meanwhile, the quickest team of three were Matthew Smith, Steven Kane and Mark Emsley for Team TMC in an aggregate time of 1-03-32.

In the women’s event under-23 rider Tamplin recorded her first open victory clocking a time of 23 minutes and 26 seconds.

Pre-race favourites Jennifer George (Memorial-Santos) and Sally Turner (trainSharp) were the last two women away but both failed to finish.

Anna Dwyer (Lewes Wanderers CC) finished second in 24-26 while Katie Simmonds (URDT) finished third clocking 25-13.
