Cris Coxon lowered his 2024 course record to win the Sussex Cyclists’ Association Championship 30-mile time trial on 20 July 2025 in Washington. Riding for Brighton Mitre Cycling Club, Coxon clocked 1:01:43 amid wet roads and wind, securing victory in this challenging Sussex time trial championship.

Open Category Highlights and Results

Coxon outpaced Lee Williams (FTP Fulfil The Potential Race Team) by over four minutes, with Cosmo Derangi (Brighton Mitre Cycling Club) third after his recent ...a3crg Goodwood performance. Brighton Mitre—Coxon, Derangi, and Tom Houghton—claimed the team prize with 3:28:00.

Coxon said: “It wasn’t the nicest morning for racing, wet and blowy with a fair bit of standing water around. But we had a break from the torrents predicted so actually got quite lucky. I couldn’t see my computer very well through the visor so focussed on staying smooth and ended up really enjoying the race, which includes different road types and a few lumps to keep things interesting. I was happy at the end to see I’d done a good time and very pleased to break the course record by a decent margin. The SCA events are always well run with Robin and team doing an excellent job, which is all the more appreciated in bad weather. There’s still plenty of the season left so I’m looking forward to more racing and hoping to hold my form over the school holidays!”

From 18 entrants, 10 finished despite challenging conditions, with early rain clearing but south-east winds persisting.
