CTT Levy Increase to Combat Financial Impact of COVID-19

The CTT have announced increases to CTT Levy charges for events to combat the financial impact of COVID-19.  Clubs should ensure their Open event entry fees take account of this increase for 2021 and that any Club event charges are increased if necessary.

Rider levy increases from 1 January 2021

The impact of Covid-19 on CTT has resulted in a loss of approximately 75% of CTT’s levy income for 2020/21 season.  It is also anticipated that Covid-19 will continue to have a subsequent ‘knock-on’ effect in 2021 and beyond.  Consequently, regretfully CTT is having to increase event levies with effect from 1 January 2021, as follows:

Type A (Open) levies - £5

Type B (Club) levies - £3 (this change was later amended back to £3)

CTT has taken advantage of government incentives to reduce costs and has negotiated better terms with its suppliers, but as CTT receives no external funding and event levies are the main source of CTT’s income, the Board has been forced into taking this decision.

Remember with the benefit of the levies, CTT is able to provide:

·        A full season of open (Type A) events

·        Internet entry which now accounts for over 95% of all entries

·        A support and regulatory system for all club (Type B) events

·        Eleven National Championships – across all distances and for all categories

·        Third party insurance for both open (Type A) and club (Type B) events - £10,000,000

·        The drug testing programme

·        A modern and “user friendly” national website - continually monitored and updated. In addition, the development of District websites is now well advanced and will assist riders in selecting both open and club events that are being run in the current season

·        Generally, a comprehensive structure to ensure the future of time trialling on our roads

·        A comprehensive handbook

The Board very much hope that the increase will be seen as a measure to protect our sport and to keep time trialling “going” as we know it today.
