Waldy Wheelers Club 10 Time Trial
A Come and Try It event
Whether you're chasing a personal best, testing your form ahead of a bigger target, or trying your first ever time trial, this one's for you.
The Waldy Wheelers 10 mile time trial is a club staple. It's a proper, competitive test against the clock, run to full CTT rules, and it's also genuinely open to riders who've never done a TT before. No egos, no gatekeeping. Come to race hard, or come to see what it's about, either way you'll get a fair start and a warm reception.
This event is a "Come and Try It" event, so you don't need to be a member of an affiliated cycling club to enter.
The course
We're riding the HCC083 course, a 16.1 km (10 miles) out and back route starting near Longcross, Surrey. Meeting point is ///scars.tape.vase at the junction of Longcross Road and Stonehill Road.
It's a moderately rolling course rather than a pan-flat one. The average gradient works out at 0%, but that hides 186 metres of total elevation gain across the ride, climbing between 31 metres and 70 metres above sea level. Expect a few honest rises and falls rather than dead flat tarmac, so pace yourself accordingly.
For your bike computer or GPS device, the approximate route is on Strava as the "HDW 10 Time Trial" segment: https://www.strava.com/segments/673027
Timing
We start strictly at 6:30pm, no exceptions, so that everyone is finished by 7:30pm and we beat the sunset. Please arrive by 6:10pm to sign on, collect your number, and get checked over before the start.
What you need on the day
A helmet. Compulsory, no exceptions.
A working white front light and a working red rear light, flashing or constant, fitted to your bike. This is a CTT rule, not a suggestion, no working lights means no start. If you don't have lights, get in touch before the day and we'll see what we can do to help.
Any bike in safe, roadworthy condition is welcome, from a full TT rig to your everyday road bike.
Age requirements
Riders must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under 18 will need a parental consent form signed in advance, sent to you on entry or available on the day.
First time riding a TT?
One of our officials will be at the start to talk you through signing on and what to expect, so don't let unfamiliarity put you off toeing the line alongside the regulars.
Entry
Free for Waldy Wheelers members
£5 for non-members
Bring a friend, invite someone who's never raced before, or come along and give it everything you've got. All welcome.
Sign up online in advance, or on the day.
Whether it's your first TT or your fiftieth, we can't wait to see you there.
