Seacroft Wheelers 10 success for Henderson and Handy

Stuart Henderson clinched his first win of the season with victory at the Seacroft Wheelers 10-mile time trial, while Kat Handy claimed top spot in the women’s event in North Yorkshire.

Having completed 17 previous time trials this season, Henderson’s previous best was the runner-up position at the East Bradford CC 15 in May, which was also part of the Yorkshire Cycling Federation Points Series.

Henderson clocked 20-34 with runner-up John Brearley eight seconds back in 20-42 to ensure a one-two finish for ADDFORM Vive Le Velo, with David Glew (FTP Fulfil the Potential Race Team) completing the top three in 21-08.

In the women’s event Valley Striders Cycling Club rider Handy set 24-22, ahead of second placed Nicole Wells (Tactic UK WRT) in 24-25, while a time of 24-41 saw Angela Hannon-Flaherty (Seacroft Wheelers) seal the final spot on the podium.

Quickest road bike went to Chris Dyke (Team Lifting Gear Products) who set 21-24 and finished fourth overall, while Bethany Brooksbank of Trek Sheffield was the highest-placed female road bike in 24-41.

This event, held on the V518 course, is an out-and-back circuit that starts in Thorpe Willoughby and heads east on the A63 past Brayton Barff, across the A19, and northwest bound past Staynor Hall until reaching the Selby Bypass roundabout, where riders turn and follow the route back to finish just south of the start line.
