British VTTA 30 titles for Watson and Moss

Deborah Moss and Dougie Watson powered to victory at the Veterans TTA 30-Mile British Championships in Fife, Scotland, on Sunday morning.

Moss (Springfield Financial RT) completed the course near Auchtermuchty in an age adjusted time of 1-02-06 to take the women’s title by over three minutes from runner-up Margaret McMillan (Deeside Thistle CC) with 1-05-29, while third was Liz Ball (Valley Striders CC) was third with 1-06-11.

And Watson (GTR-Return to Life p/b Streamline) covered the distance in an age adjusted time of 1-00-10, giving him the win by 1-37 from Philip Kennell (GS Metro) while the podium was completed by Mike Twelves (Team Ohten Aveas) another 41 seconds back in third.

In other categories the first VTTA club team was Legato Race Team with an age adjusted time of 3-14-01 achieved by the trio of Joseph Costello, Simon Horsley and Marc Hamer.

And in the VTTA group team category, Dougie Watson, James Cusick and Marc Anderson teamed up for Scotland and had an age adjusted total time of 3-09-15.

The event also included the Scottish VTTA Pinky Williams Trophy, which went to Dougie Watson with James Cusick (Dooley’s Cycles) second and Marc Anderson (GTR Return to Life) third.

Overall fastest female riders were Georgia Perry (Fife Century Road Club) in 1-08-27 for an impressive ninth overall, while Moss and McMillan were second and third with 1-13-09 and 1-18-44 respectively.

And of the men the fastest three were Watson, Kennell and Anderson, with Watson’s actual time being 1-02-31, 3-23 faster than Kennell with Anderson another eight seconds off the pace.

The event used the WE30/01 course beginning near Ladybank and heading up on to the A91 at Collessie and westwards through Auchtermuchty, Gateside and on to Milnathort, turning there and heading back up.

Riders head a little further out on the way back to turn again at the junction with the A92, before coming back to the finish west of Ladybank.
