Wilson and Moss take emphatic victories at Lancashire RC 10
Simon Wilson

Veteran rider Simon Wilson (HUUB-WattShop) broke his own course record by three seconds in the Lancashire Road Club 10, while Deborah Moss (Springfield Financial Racing Team) won the women’s event by over two minutes.

Wilson, aged 42, set a new benchmark for the Garstang course of 18 minutes and 49 seconds – an average speed of over 31.8 miles per hour.

The L101 saw competitors start outside Garstang before heading out and back along the A6 to Hampson Green.

Wilson, from Padiham, also won the East Lancashire Road Club 10 in May clocking 17-55 and despite being slower on this occasion the veteran added another victory to his collection.

Under-23 rider Tristan Pilling (360cycling) came into the event in good form having won the Kent Valley RC 10 the previous week but had to settle for second on this occasion in 19-54.

Completing the podium positions was Richard Nesfield (Giant-Kendal-Sidas.uk) whose time of 20-27 just edged out Kamil Waligora (360cycling) into fourth (20-39).

Deborah Moss

Spindata had predicted that Wilson would take victory in a time of 19-14 and he broke that time by 25 seconds in reality.

Wilson was clearly the quickest veteran on scratch ahead of Stephen Feeney (Tactic Sport UK Race Team) in second (20-53), while David Thompson (Rock to Roll CC) finished third in the age category stopping the clock in 21-06.

The quickest juvenile was Davey Allanson (360cycling) whose time of 22-51 placed him 16th overall.

In the women’s event Moss, aged 53, completed the course in a winning time of 22 minutes and 43 seconds.

The Wrightington-based rider also won the VTTA National 50 Championship last month and added another victory to her collection.

Charlotte Boothman (360cycling) led the battle for second stopping the clock in 25-12, while veteran Theresa Taylor (Springfield Financial Racing Team) finished third (26-14).

Competing in his first road bike category event veteran rider Paul Shallicker (Coveryourcar.co.uk RT - Fitted and Tailored Car Covers) took victory in a time of 24-53.

Howard Leach (VTTA North Lancs and Lakes Group) finished second in 26-18 and Danny Halpin (Bristol CX) was third (27-28).
