J9/8 | BrickworksPhilip Graves (NOPINZ) notched up his first open time trial victory of the season when he powered to victory in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 10-mile event on the V910 near Ferrybridge in West Yorkshire on Sunday.
The 27-year-old from York clocked 21.22 to take the win by 35 seconds from Anthony Bromley (SSLL Racing Team), while the podium was completed by Christophe Demoulin (York Cycleworks), another eight seconds back.
Team Swift’s Kirsty Smith clocked 25.50 and was the fastest female by nine seconds, with Team Swift team-mate Alex Smethurst second in that category, and Debra Charlesworth (Cliff Pratt Racing) third.
For Graves, his time was two seconds slower than the one he rode on the same course two weeks earlier, but on that occasion he placed second in the Featherstone RC event.
Graves was also second in Malton Wheelers 10.5-mile time trial the day before the YCF event, before he stepped up to the top of the podium in Sunday’s event.
The medium gear event was won by Featherstone RC’s Steven Wigglesworth with 25.47, with Jim Trevor (Hull Thursday RC) nine seconds back in second. And the fastest of the two tandems was Simon Beldon (SSLL Racing Team) and Alex Beldon (Ilkley CC) who clocked 23.46.
