U102 evening TT series -VCB

Blumilk.com veteran Jon Sturman took victory by 55 seconds in the Border City Wheelers CC Open 25 event held in Calthwaite on Saturday.

The 47-year-old completed the 25 miles in 57.12, ahead of Glossop Kinder Velo CC’s Mark Nulty who clocked a time of 58.07.

There were five other riders who managed to complete under an hour and Paul Fleming of Preston CC was quickest in 58.08. He was just a single second off Nulty, a rider 20 years his junior, but had to settle for third place on the podium.

Archie Irving of Beacon Wheelers deserves a special mention, the 14-year-old posting an impressive 1:01.26 to edge into the overall top ten.

Amanda Howard won the women’s prize, the Kendal CC rider completing in 1:09.50. Second was Samantha Wilson (Beacon Wheelers) in 1:11.05 and third Carol Westmorland of Border City Wheelers CC in 1:11.49.
