Sarah Storey and Jordan Giles took individual wins at the a3crg time trial event at the Goodwood circuit in West Sussex on Saturday before both going on to ride and win the team events later in the evening.

Paralympic ace Storey (Storey Racing) clocked 25-55 for the 11.85-mile solo women’s event, which gave her victory by 50 seconds from CAMS Racing’s Danielle Shrosbee, while Lucy Gadd took third for Storey Racing with 27-31.

Jordan Giles covered the distance in 23-55 to win the men’s individual event by just three seconds from National Junior 10-Mile Championship winner Jamie Whitcher (Bournemouth Cycleworks), with Josh Newbould (Banbury Star CC) third, another 14 seconds back.

In the evening’s final event Storey and Gadd teamed up with Rebecca Richards and Anya Tamplin to clock 25-56 and finish second in the team time trial event. Tamplin had a mechanical on her TT bike and competed on her road bike, but it didn’t seem to hamper her performance too much.

Jordan Giles lined up with George Skinner and Sam Wadsley for that event and clocked 24-01 to take overall victory.

The Portsmouth North End CC team of Matthew Puddick, Carl Fiford, Gareth Fiford and Robert Ford finished third with 26-04.

Other events included road bikes, with junior Joseph O’Brien (Lee Valley YCC) being fastest male in 27-16, while Joanne Clarke (VC Venta) was quickest female on a road bike with 30-24.

The event for 10-14-year-olds saw them cover three laps (7.1 miles) and compete under road bike regulations, and victory went to Amy Clarke (Surrey CRL) in 25-45, while best of the boys was Joseph O’Dea (Chichester Triathlon Club) in 27-37.

The 14-16-year-olds covered 9.5 miles (four laps) and fastest was Bobby Buenfeld (VC Venta) in 20-40, while Grace Bishop (Chichester Triathlon Club) was fastest girl in 29-12.

And the Heritage Bikes event covered the full 11.85 miles on pre-2001 bikes and was won by Simon Hall (Crabwood CC) in 34-20.
