Lloyd Chapman

Lloyd Chapman triumphed in an incredibly close men’s event while Becky Ridge was fastest woman at the East District CA 10-mile time trial in Norfolk on Saturday morning.

Just three seconds separated the top three in the men’s time trial, with Chapman (Loose Cannon’s Conditioning) clinching victory in 20-35 to pip clubmate Matt O’Brien’s time of 20-37 ahead of D A P Cycling Club’s Mark Richards in 20-38.

The women’s event also saw a tight finish with Ridge (TPH Racing) setting 23-13 to see off Loose Cannon’s Conditioning rider Hannah O’Brien who finished in 23-31, while there was further success for Loose Cannon’s Conditioning as Verity Smith completed the podium in 25-08.

Elsewhere, Abbey Thompson of Stonham Barns Park – SYRT was quickest juvenile in 26-37 and the veteran on standard time saw Team Bottrill’s Keith Dorling top in +6-02, while second place was Matt O’Brien in +5-46 and third was Hannah O’Brien in +5-26.

The 40-strong field enjoyed generally sunny and dry conditions, with the wind strength and direction adding to the challenge on the 10-mile route.
