Christopher McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport London RT) secured the top spot in the a3crg 50-mile time trial with the third quickest 50-mile time ever in CTT events, while Claire Emons of the promoting club went fastest in the women’s event.

47-year-old McNamara claimed the victory clocking a time of 1:34:07 on the new P881L/50 course. He set a new 50-mile personal best in his way to victory, as well as the course record.

His closest competition came in the shape of Paul Burton (Paceline RT) who came in just over two and a half minutes off the pace at 1:36:48. In third place was Liam Maybank (Twickenham CC) who completed the ride in 1:38:53.

Just like the weather McNamara has been in scorching form all season, having acquired an abundance of victories throughout 2022. It was no different here as he claimed his 11th open event win of the season on the back of winning the Finsbury Park CC 50 last weekend.

His next event is likely to come as the Sussex CA 30 which is scheduled to take place in a fortnight.

In the women’s event it was Claire Emons that took top spot with a time of 1:56:29.

Second spot went to Lisa Davis (Drag2Zero) who clocked in around three minutes later at 1:59:33. Following that time was Lucy Mitchell (a3crg) who completed the course in 2:05:25.

Emons had a productive June, finishing on the podium in two of her four events throughout that month, winning one of those. Lisa Davis was tipped by national ranking system Spindata to take victory in this women’s event but it was veteran Emons that claimed the fastest woman spot.

There was also an impressive performance in the tandem category, with multiple national record holders Ian Greenstreet and Rachael Elliott of Newbury Velo clocking 1:39:57.
