Joe Parker

Joe Parker (Racing Club Ravenna) took victory by over a minute in the Poole Wheelers CC 25, while Louisa Cooper (Bournemouth Jubilee Whs) was pushed all the way but won the women’s event.

Scratch rider Parker, aged 32, took his second victory of the season in a winning time of 50 minutes and 32 seconds – a minute and 40 seconds faster than his nearest rival.

The P413/25 saw riders start near Bulbury Golf Club before heading onto the out and back course along the Upton Bypass between Lytchett Minster and Stanley Green.

Competitors completed three out and back laps before a final out and back leg down to Holton Heath before the finish.

Parker also won the …a3crg Glorious Goodwood 11.8 on his first ride of the season earlier this month and was once again winner on this occasion.

Quickest veteran on scratch Tom Clements (Wessex Road Club) finished second after a close battle clocking 52-12 which was just nine seconds faster than fellow veteran Andrew Rivett (VC St Raphael).

Louisa Cooper

Rivett was also part of the fastest VC St Raphael team along with Matthew Buckley (53-24) and Kevin Baker (53-39) with all three riders in the top six placings.

Meanwhile, quickest veteran on standard was David Butt (CC Weymouth) whose time of 57-48 equated to a standard of +18.22.

Fastest junior was Ryan Openshaw (Poole Wheelers) who completed the course in 1-03-54.

In the women’s event Cooper took her first victory of the season recording a winning time of one hour, five minutes and 30 seconds.

A close battle for second saw Poole Wheelers team-mates Sarah Inwood and Lauren Falconer separated by just seven seconds with Inwood coming out on top in 1-06-09.
