Alastair Ribbands

Alastair Ribbands (Congleton CC) went quickest in the Manchester & District TTA 25-mile time trial, while Lucy Rogers made it a double for Congleton CC with victory in the women’s category.

38-year-old Ribbands was the only rider to complete the 25-mile ride in under 53 minutes, clocking in at 52:48.

Second fastest went to Kouros Driscoll (Seamons CC) who was just under a minute off the pace with 53:42. Following behind in third was espoir Tristan Pilling (University of Derby CC) who completed the course in 54:10.

Ribbands is a prolific time trial rider, having ridden almost a dozen times this season already. Out of those 11 rides he only failed to finish in the top three on his first ride of the season back in February. Since then he has won five open events, six including here.

In the women’s event it was Lucy Rogers to come out on top, she clocked 1:00:47.

In second place was Kelly Murphy (The Independent Pedaler - Nopinz), the 32-year-old completed the course in 1:01:00. Finishing off the podium was Anna Birrell (Congleton CC) she rode a time of 1:03:17.

Similar to Ribbands, Rogers is also a very active rider having competed in ten open events this season and won her last three prior to the Manchester and District TTA event this weekend.

In other categories the fastest veteran was Bradley Murphy (SKCC) who clocked a time of 54:28. There was also a road bike category in which Luke Buswell (Manchester Bicycle Club) was the fastest, coming in at 59:03.

The fastest team was Seamons CC, with the three fastest riders representing them being Kouros Driscoll (53:42), Alan Chorley (55:22) and Adrian Hughes (56:16).
