James Jenkins (Richardsons-Trek RT) was the fastest man in the ECCA 10-mile time trial near Cambridge, while Jennifer George (The Independent Pedaler) was the quickest in the women’s event.

Jenkins completed the 10-mile course in 18 minutes and 26 seconds, a time just seven seconds off his personal best despite the hot conditions.

Coming in second was Paul Burton (Paceline RT) as he clocked a time of 18-45. Taking the final podium spot was Ryan Witchell (Team salesengine.co.uk), he was a further 25 seconds off the pace finishing in 19:10.

Jenkins started his season with three competitive wins after a top 10 finish in both the National 11.7-mile Closed Circuit Championship and the National 10-mile Championship at the end of last year. The winning streak continues.

In the women’s event it was George that finished quickest, she clocked in at 20-20. Another time very close to a personal best, being three seconds off her best ever 10-mile ride.

Second spot went to Lara Franklin (Stowmarket & District CC) as she rode a time of 21-58, Karen Aylen (Maldon & District CC) was the rider in third. Her time being 22-37.

George, who often finds herself in the top three, kept that trend going with another win today. Leading up to this event she competed in three National Championship events last month. Finishing third in both the 25 and 50 and in-between those she won the 28-mile National Circuit Championship. Following those events she most recently won the …a3crg 10 three days prior to this.

There was another ECCA event taking place over the weekend, that being the tandem 10-mile time trial, the winners of that being Christopher and Joanne York of Maldon & District CC.
