Persson and Allan celebrate wins in the Westerley CC 25

Henrik Persson (FTP Racing) was the victor in the Westerley CC 25-mile time trial near Maidenhead, while Kate Allan (Team Bottrill) was the winner of the women’s event.

Persson went around the course and clocked in at 50:30 to take the win by over two and a half minutes.  

The nearest rival of the winner was Stuart Hourigan (34 Nomads CC), he finished in 52:37, while third place was taken by Anthony Allsopp (Woking Cycle Club) who rode the course in a time of 53:31.

This event marked the first win of the season for Persson in what was the fastest time he had posted over the 25-mile distance all year. He has three upcoming events where he will be looking to carry this form into.

The winner of the women’s event was Kate Allan who completed the course in 54:15, which gave her a time over seven minutes faster than any other woman, also it placed her fifth overall.

Trailing behind was Katie Phipkin (Precision Race Team), she rode a time of 1:01:19 to secure second place. While third was occupied by Gillian Morgan (Westerley Cycling Club) as she clocked in at 1:10:22.

After not riding in open events in 2020 Allan has returned to action with three open events this year which she has won each and every one of quite comfortably, two triumphs over 25 miles and one over 10 miles.

The fastest vets on standard was Stuart Stow (Twickenham CC) with a plus of 14:51, 33 seconds better than Stuart Hourigan (+14:18) with Mark Woolford (Team Swindon Cycles) third (+13:51).

As well as veteran prizes there was a prize for the fastest team which was awarded to the Hounslow & Dist. Whs who won with a combined time of 2:56:17, the three riders that made up that time were Bruce Morgan, Nicolas Stagg and Timothy Budd.
