Ollie Hucks

Ollie Hucks (Nopinz Motip Race Team) took his first victory of the season in the Westerley Cycling Club 10, while Kate Allan (Team Bottrill) continued her winning run in the women’s event.

Hucks, aged 22, has ridden to two third place finishes so far this season but went better on this occasion to win in 19 minutes and 11 seconds.

The H10/22 saw riders start from near Marlow before heading out into a headwind on the A404 to Maidenhead and back with a tailwind in warm conditions.

Hucks clocked 19-15 on his way to third in the Melton Olympic 10 last month but despite the windy conditions he went four seconds faster on this occasion to win.

Just 14 seconds behind Cox was Felix Wilkinson (Tetbury Velos) who won the Tetbury Velos 10 last month but had to settle for second this time out.

Leading the veteran’s category and taking third overall was Joel Stewart (Team Ohten Aveas) in 19-40 who was the clear winner ahead of David Wright (Tetbury Velos) in 21-43 while Andrew Halliday of host club host club Westerley CC clocking 22-45.

A well-contested junior competition saw James Ashcroft (Nopinz Motip Race Team) win and take seventh overall in 20-23 ahead of TrainSharp Development Team duo Toby Brown (20-56) and Daniel Goodwin (21-28).

They also helped TrainSharp Development Team to team victory joined by 16-year-old William Morgan who contributed with 24-06.

Meanwhile in the women’s event after winning the Farnborough & Camberley 10 last month Allan continued her winning run posting a time of 21-58.

Leading veteran women Danuta Tinn (Maidenhead & District CC) was second in 23-44 while fellow vet Gillian Reynolds (Willesden CC) was third posting 26-32 on her road bike.
