Jack Allison (GS Henley) rode a new course record to claim top spot in the Sussex CA 10-mile time trial, while Jennifer George (The Independent Pedaler - Nopinz) was top in the women’s event near Handcross in Surrey.

32-year-old Allison picked up the win with an impressive time of 21:25. Scratch man Mark Smith (Crawley Wheelers) was runner-up, finishing in 22:08 to claim second. In third place and taking the final spot on the podium was Andy Critchlow (Norwood Paragon CC) who clocked in just behind second place, at 22:10.

This marked a second consecutive win for Allison, going back-to-back in 10-mile events. He will be looking to continue this form in his next event, the Addiscombe CC 10 next weekend.

Smith’s last win came around this time last month, his highest placed finish since then was a fourth place in a 25-mile event, so he will be happy to be back in the podium spots.

Third placed Critchlow has been up there in all of his events this season, finishing in the top 10 for all but one. This was only his second podium finish of the year, which both happen to have been in this event and the event prior.

In the women’s event it was Jennifer George who outclassed the field and pushed the pace to finish first with a very fast 22:59.

Bethan Male (Neighbourhood Brighton CC) took second place clocking in at 25:37, while it was Delyth Williams (Dulwich Paragon CC) who came through in third, finishing in 26:52.

George had been in good form leading into this event, winning two of her last four events and being on the podium for three of those, finishing in fourth in the only one she missed the top spots in behind three very fast times.

Male had rode two times this season prior to this event, finishing on the podium for both of those, winning one and third in the other. For Williams it was only her second ride of the season, but also her second podium, she is scheduled for another event next weekend in the Islington CC 12, where she will be looking to one up her two podium finishes so far.
