George Fox

George Fox (George Fox Cycling Solutions) set a new course record for the N3/10 on his way to victory in the Northampton & District CA 10, while Lindsay Clarke (Fenland Clarion) won the women’s event.

Fox, aged 27, recorded a new benchmark time of 20 minutes and 15 seconds along the N3/10 recording victory by 47 seconds.

The event was scheduled to be held over an unusual 20.8 miles with the straight out and back loop course to Rotherwell followed by a loop around the Northamptonshire countryside.

However, a poor road surface on the second part of the course led to the organiser deciding to hold the event over 10 miles over the first out and back section of the course.

Fox had already won the Leo 30 and Northampton & District CA 10 already this season and rose to the challenge in cold but dry conditions taking a clear victory.

Veteran Paul Pardoe (Peterborough CC) continues his search for a win taking a third second placed finish of the season and sixth podium in 21-02.

Meanwhile, Jack Patmore (George Fox Cycling Solutions) completed the podium positions finished third in 21-29.

Lindsay Clarke

Jamie Murray (Peterborough CC) was second veteran in 22-04 while Jon Simpkins (Drag2Zero) was third in the age category a further 10 seconds back.

Junior rider Michael Carter (Rockingham Forest Wheelers) was an early starter and completed the course in 27-19.

In the women’s event veteran rider Clarke was a last woman off and recorded her second win of the season in 25 minutes and 59 seconds.

Clarke’s previous results this season saw her finish second in the Northampton & District CA 15 and 25 along with winning the Northampton & District CA 10.

An exciting battle for second saw four riders finish 13 seconds apart led by veteran Linda Hubbard (Welland Valley CC) who finished second in 26-38.

Tonya Smith (Fenland Clarion CC) clinched third in 26-40 just three seconds quicker than Sue Rust (Kettering CC) with Hayley Moore (Ilkeston Cycle Club) finishing in 26-51

Meanwhile, junior Peggy Simpkins (Banbury Star Cyclists’ Club) finished in 28-13.
