Jennifer George (Memorial-Santos) and Thomas Day (Zannata Galloo Team) were victorious once again at the mid-week time trial staged at the Goodwood circuit in West Sussex by a3crg.

George clocked 25-42 to set a new women’s course record and take victory by 30 seconds from the promoting club’s own Angela Carpenter (a3crg), while Espoir Caitlin Peters (Torelli) clocked 26-23 for third in that event.

And junior Thomas Day also notched up another victory, this time setting a new course record of 22-28 to take victory by 36 seconds from fellow junior Harvey McLean (VC St Raphael), with Henry Latimer (Didcot Phoenix CC) taking third, another six seconds off Day’s pace.

The team categories saw VC St Raphael won the men’s prize with McLean being joined by Matthew Buckley and Nigel Pratt who combined for a time of 1-12-13 which was just five seconds better than the trio from trainSharp.

And in the women’s event Carpenter led a3crg to the prize with Kirsty McSeveney and Mucy Mitchell combining for 1-23-41.

In the road bike categories Jordan Giles (Univ of Southampton RC) was victorious in 25-51, beating James Bonham (Paceline RT0 into second by 21 seconds, while Charles Salt (Islington CC) took third.

Strength in numbers proved key for Petersfield Tri Club who won the team prize with Alex Cassar, Leighton Jones and David Price the winning trio.

And in the women’s road bike category Elise Sherwell (Look Mum No Hands!) was winner in 28-09, 1-20 ahead of Team Bottrill’s Marianne Holt, while Chrissie Slot (Jadan CycleSpace) was third.

VC Venta’s Matthew Gilmour was quickest in the juveniles 14-15-year-old four-lap event with a time of 21-12, 31 seconds better than Luke Goodwill (Preston Park YCC), while Peter Drabble (WORX Factory Racing) was third.

Katie-Anne Calton (Solent Pirates Youth CC) was best girl in this category with 24-41 for fourth overall.

And in the 10-13-year-old juveniles event over three laps Alexander Murphy (VC Venta) clocked 17-23 for the win by more than two minutes from Abbey Thompson, the Suffolk Youth RT girl who was impressive in second spot.
