Ten mile wins for Northover and Peters in Hampshire
Caitlin Peters and Daniel Northover powered to victory on the roads of Hampshire in the a3crg ten-mile midweek open time trial on Wednesday.
Northover (Finsbury Park CC) made it a hat-trick of consecutive open event wins on record, and back-to-back midweek triumphs hosted by the a3crg club.
The 42-year-old has had an upturn in form this July, winning all three of his entered events after winning only once in his previous ten events on record.
Northover clocked a time of 18-35 to lead by 24 seconds.
Matthew Alder (Fairly United Cycling Team) finished second with a time of 18-59 which proved to be a personal record in open events according to his CTT record.
Alder has made a bright start to the year and in three races has not finished outside the top-two spots, taking victory in his two prior time trials.
Junior rider Thomas Day (Giant CC Halo Films) pipped Chris McNamara by a lone second to capture third spot. Days’ time of 19-02 gave him his second open-aged time-trial podium of the year.
Caitlin Peters (Storey Racing) powered to her first victory of the season in an open event, beating Jessica Rhodes-Jones (AeroCoach) by 20 seconds. The 17-year-old has won an event in the junior category prior to this but after some near misses, her time of 21-58 saw her first in an open event.
Peters got the better of Rhodes-Jones after the latter finished above Peters only four days before in the Ross-on-Wye 10.
Rhodes-Jones had to settle for second on this occasion, denying her the chance of securing a hattrick of wins in 2019.
She clocked a time of 22-18 as Sue Rust (Kettering CC) completed the podium in 22-39 ahead of the inform Kirsty McSeveney.
