Adam Duggleby

Adam Duggleby was the only rider to go under 20 minutes, while Kerry Gowland won the women’s prize at the Cleveland Wheelers 10-mile time trial in County Durham on Saturday.

Duggleby, the 34-year-old Vive le Velo rider from Leeds, bagged his latest win with a time of 19-39 to give him victory by 25 seconds from Keith Murray (Drag2zero), while Hayden Allen (THRE Datawolves) was another four seconds back in third.

Meanwhile, 40-year-old Gowland (Houghton CC) clocked 24-36 to win the women’s category by almost three minutes from Kate Sanderson (Cleveland Wheelers).

The event used the T105 course near Sedgefield, which takes riders south east towards Hartlepool through Wynyard and back.

Duggleby’s win comes after his victory in the Croston Velo 10 a couple of weeks ago when he clocked 19-03, while he was part of the team that finished second in the City RC three-up 25 in March.

He was also victorious last weekend, being one half of the fastest tandem along with Paralympic partner Steve Bate. They clocked 48-45 which was the fastest overall time in last weekend’s Rossington Wheelers 25 in South Yorkshire.

Duggleby is next due to be in action at the Sheffrec CC 10 next Saturday, followed by the Selby CC 10 the following day.

Kerry Gowland

In other categories second-placed Keith Murray took the prize for the best veteran on standard, the 44-year-old having a plus on his age standard of 6-18 which was 47 seconds better than Shaun Tyson (Ribble Pro Cycling) in second in that category.

Keith’s son Sam Murray (Drag2Zero) was fastest junior with 22-08 which gave him ninth place overall, while Thomas Heighton (Stockton Wheelers) was quickest juvenile rider, the 15-year-old covering the course in 24-57.
