Duggleby and Bate

Vive Le Velo tandem riders Adam Duggleby and Steve Bate clocked the fastest time by over five minutes in the Rossington Wheelers 25, while Nicholas Latimer (B38/Cycles in Motion) and Sarah Harrison (Sheffield Tri Club) took individual victories.

After individually winning the Croston Velo 10 last weekend, Duggleby was joined by Great Britain team tandem partner Steve Bate for the 25-mile event.

The UCI World Para-cycling Tandem B Individual Time Trial Champions clocked a time of 48 minutes and 45 seconds in their rainbow stripes despite windy conditions.

Individually Latimer, aged 37 and from Grindleford, used his talent over sporting courses to good effect to take victory by 50 seconds in a time of 54 minutes and one second.

The sporting O25/11 course saw riders compete against severe crosswinds for the first 10 miles towards on the out and back leg towards Scunthorpe before battling against a strong headwind leg back on the A614 in the last five miles.

The wind was so strong some riders had to ride out of their time trial positions and one rider was blown off the road and into a hedge.

Scratch rider Latimer showed that his winter indoor training and racing on Zwift has had a positive effect, going one better than his second place in the Birdwell Wheelers 25 last month.

Nicky Moore (UK-featherflags/TRI RT) went over 30 seconds faster on his way to third in the Birdwell Wheelers 25 last month, but his time of 54.51 was good enough for second on this occasion.

Meanwhile Liam Bosley (Derby Mercury RC) took third in a time of 55.10.

Fastest woman was Sarah Harrison (Sheffield Tri Club) in one hour, 11 minutes and 50 seconds.

Joe Le Sage (Rutland CC) was quickest veteran aged 40+ in 56.43, Paul Rider (Tyneside Vagabonds) fastest veteran 50+ in 1:00.06 and Richard Gray (Norton Whls) veteran 60+ in 1:07.25.
