Hayley Simmonds

Richard Gildea and Hayley Simmonds topped the podium as the fastest male and female respectively at the Realteam.co.uk hill climb that took place on the Bwlch in Treorchy on Saturday.

Pro rider Simmonds (AeroCoach) topped the podium as the fastest female and achieved an impressive sixth place overall finish after finishing her run with a time of 10-24.9.

She has started her hill climb season in excellent fashion after topping the women’s podium and finishing fourth overall last weekend at the Sunderland Clarion CC event.

She will be hoping to build on her impressive form as her preparations continue for the National Hill climb at the end of the month.

Gildea (Didcot Phoenix CC) topped the podium and set the fastest time overall after finishing his run with a time of 8-55.

The 34-year-old was last victorious at the 1st Chard Wheelers hill climb in mid-September and achieved a second place finish at the Mid-Devon CC event on the same day.

Richard Gildea

Gildea will be looking to carry his good form in the next weekend as he is set to compete for the Welsh Championship as he rides the Welsh CA three-mile hill climb event that takes place near Abergavenny

Phil Stonelake (Bristol Road Club) finished second overall with a time of 9-30 respectively.

David Ross completed the podium line up after clocking a time of 9-50.2.
