Emma Angove

Ross Phelps and Emma Angove topped the podium at the Sportzmad 10-mile time trial near Raglan on Sunday morning.

Phelps (Bristol Road Club) clocked a time of 20-39 to claim the top step of the podium. This was the 26-year-old’s first victory of the open season after securing a second placed finish at the Dursley Road Club 10 at the start of the month.

Phelps last topped the podium at the Bath University CC three-up in March 2018 and will be looking to add more victories to his record throughout this season.

Emma Angove (73 Degrees Bicycles) clocked a time of 24-27 to be the fastest female rider of the day by a margin of just one second over Laura Clements (Cardiff Triathletes).

The second spot on the podium was clinched by Owen Burgess (Newport Phoenix) who finished his run with a time of 20-54. This was his first podium finish on record and will be hoping to add more as he is due to compete at the Ogmore Valley Wheelers 25 at the start of April.

Jacob Sparrow (Clee Cycles) was the third fastest male on the day, after clocking a time of 21-10.

This was Sparrow’s first event of the open season. The 27-year-old’s last podium finish came at the Ludlow CC 10 in July of last season when he finished in second place.

The out and back course saw the riders navigate their way along the A40 towards Raglan before making a turn and heading back along the same way towards the finish.
