There were some fast times at the Andover Wheelers 10 on Sunday with three riders completing in under 19 minutes.

The fastest of those was Newbury RC’s Tim Cartwright who clocked a time of 18.21 to win the event. However, he was unable to break his own course record of 18.06.

Cartwright has been in great form this year and now has four victories and two runner-up placings this year.

All the more impressive is the fact that he has won collected these results over a variety of distances with 10-mile wins in the Newbury RC and Poole Wheelers events, a win over 25 miles in the Andover Wheelers event and a second place in Charlotteville CC’s 50.

NOPINZ rider Gary Chambers was 34 seconds down on Cartwright in 18.55, enough to take second place.

Chambers has had a busy season, racking up a number of wins and finishes runner-up to Cartwright for the second time in quick succession after coming second in the Poole Wheelers event.

Espoir rider Samuel Wadsley of Primera-Teamjobs took the final place on the podium, finishing just two seconds off the pace of Chambers in 18.57.

Andy Langdown of Blazing Saddles was the quickest veteran on the day, completing in a time of 19.36 to finish sixth overall.

Louisa Cooper of Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers took the women’s prize, finishing 26th overall in a time of 22.55. Bournemouth Arrow CC rider Michelle Walter was second in 24.02 and Catherine Pascoe of New Forest CC was third in 27.17.
