Reigning VTTA National 10 Champion Ron Hallam took the top honours in the VTTA Yorkshire 10 while Sarah Lewthwaite was fastest woman on scratch.

Ron Hallam (South Pennine RC), aged 87, took advantage of the excellent conditions to clock a time of 27-06, yielding a standard time of +7-50.

His time separated him from second placed Brian Sunter (Condor RC) to the tune of 1-30 on standard, the 75-year-old froze the timekeeper’s watches at 23-47, calculated at +6-20 quicker than standard.

Non-veteran rider Richard Dean (Cyclomania) was a guest in the 'vets only' event, setting the fastest scratch time of the day in 20-04.

Daniel Barnett (Team Bottrill/Vanguard) was third on standard but had the satisfaction of being actual fastest veteran with 20-35.

In the women’s category, Sarah Lewthwaite (Team Sportslab) clocked a winning time on scratch of 24-09 ahead of team-mate Karen Taylor in 24-44. However, with eight years in age separating the duo, Taylor was the fastest rider on standard.

The V714 was used for the event which saw riders travel along the B1230 between Gilberdyke and Howden.
