Jackson and Scupham victorious in Yorkshire
Louise Scupham and Andy Jackson took comfortable victories on the roads of North Yorkshire in the Otley CC 25-mile time trial on Sunday morning.
National 24-hour champion Andy Jackson (Aerocoach) showed his riding class on the undulating V235 circuit in the heart of North Yorkshire as he powered to a sizeable 1-53 victory in 55-05.
Michael Schofield (York Cycleworks) had set an early best time of 56-58 but was overhauled by 43-year-old Jackson, while Liam Golton (Selby CC) completed the podium taking the bottom step after he stopped the watches in 57-03.
Louise Scupham (Team Jadan-Weldtite) was fastest female. She has improved over the few events recorded this season with previous finishes of fifth and second respectively. Her time of 1-08-59 gave her the maiden win by one minute ahead of Tamara Walton (Club Seiclo Caergybi) who finished in 1-09-59.
Helen Goldthorpe of host club Otley CC was third with a time of 1-10-24.
In other categories, Joe Howcroft, another host club rider, took the fastest junior prize after he crossed in 1-02-25. Timothy Lane (Kirklees CA) made the trek across from West Yorkshire to end the day as fastest juvenile.
Fastest veteran of the day fell to Crag Moody (Giants Halifax RT) in the V50 class with a time of 59-11.
V40 and V70+ class winners Roger Bromiley and Walter Wilkinson combined with Adrian Barwick to give Harrogate Nova CC the team prize in 3-15-53.
