Daniel Bloy (Team Velovelocity) took advantage of light winds to take his first victory of the season by 17 seconds in the out-and-back Wisbech 10-mile time trial in Cambridgeshire.

The 40-year-old from Denver in Norfolk clocked a winning time of 21 minutes and 31 seconds to take his first win of the season.

Bloy, who took victories in the Kings Lynn CC 25 and North Norfolk 100 last season, raced to the win over the shorter distance on this occasion.

“It was my first race of the season after my first planned race was cancelled,” said Bloy. “The first race is always a bit rough and ready so I wasn’t in the best race form.

“I have raced that course several times and today was the best conditions as it was surprisingly low winds and I set a personal best for me on that course by 27 seconds.”

The pan flat B10/2 course sees riders start on the B198 on the outskirts of Wisbech travelling towards Kings Lynn before turning back down the A47 to the finish.

James Gelsthorpe (Velo-One Cycling Team) ran Bloy close but had to settle for second on this occasion stopping the clock in 21.48.

Fastest woman was veteran Team Bottrill-Vanguard rider Wendy Gooding finishing in 25.24.

With three riders inside the top 10 overall Velo-One Cycling Team clinched the team prize.

Jon Surtees (NOPINZ) was fastest rider over 50 while Chris Nudds (CC Breckland) was the quickest rider over 60 years old.
