Sarah Wilkinson and Zeb Kyffin came out on top at the 1,500-metre hill climb hosted by Cestria CC on Saturday.

Kyffin (Ribble Pro Racing) smashed the course record when he finished his run with a time of 3-49.

He said: “I’ve only ever ridden this course once before and that was in last year’s hill climb event here, where I recorded 4:11. My target today was to beat that and possibly take Andy Cunningham’s course record of 4:08.”

The 20-year-old was also victorious last weekend at the Allen Valley Velo hill climb where he also set a new record on the second stage of the course.

Second place was claimed by Marcus Cram (Blaydon CC) who clocked a time of 4-10.

This is the 26-year-old’s first podium finish of the hill climb season having previously finished fourth at the North Tyneside Riders two-stage at the start of September.

There was only one second separating Colin Atkinson (Muckle CC) who finished in third with a time of 4-11.

Sarah Wilkinson

Atkinson has already had a number of podium finishes throughout the hill climb season, most recently finishing second at the GS Metro hill climb on the 16th of September.

The fastest woman on the day was Sarah Wilkinson (Cestria CC). The host club rider finished her run with a time of 5-36 to clinch the top prize.

This is the veteran’s first victory of the season, her best finish before this being fourth at the GS Metro hill climb in mid-September.
