Zeb Kyffin

Zeb Kyffin and Hannah Farran were the fastest man and women at the Allen Valley Velo two-stage hill climb in Northumberland on Sunday morning.

Hannah Farran (Boompods EDCO NRG) was the fastest woman over the two stages completing her run with a combined time of 22-16. She completed the first stage of the course in 16-21 and the second in 5-54.

Farran has started her hill climb season well having been victorious at the North Tyneside Riders two-stage at the start of September. She also finished third last weekend at the GS Metro hill climb.

Farran said after her run: “I’m really pleased with the way things went today, I thought that the first climb was a lot steadier, long and gradual but I really enjoyed it as I felt I could just sit in and ride to power.”

Zeb Kyffin (Ribble Pro Cycling) was the fastest male on the day, clocking a combined time of 16-25 after his two stages to retain his title at this event. His first stage time was 12-03 and then he completed his second in 4-21.

Kyffin has recently returned to action after breaking his collarbone a few months ago.

The 20-year-old rider who recently finished 14th at the National 10 Mile Championships said “I think I managed to shave a few seconds off the MH15 course record today, I’m just waiting for confirmation.”

Second place on the podium was secured by David Huck (Barrow Central Wheelers), who finished his run with a combined time of 17-28. He completed the first stage with a time of 13-05 and the second with a time of 4-23.

This is Huck’s second podium finish of the season with the rider most recently finishing second at the Barrow Central Wheelers.

Third went to Jamie Johnson (Barnesbury CC) who finished with a combined time of 17-53. He completed his first stage in 13-16 and the second in 4-37.

Johnson also finished third last weekend at the GS Metro hill climb and third the weekend before at the North Tyneside Riders two-stage.
