Pfeiffer Georgi

Rising star Pfeiffer Georgi (Liv CC-Halo Cycles) took almost a minute off the junior women’s competition record in the Acme Wheelers (Rhondda) CC 25 while Marcin Bialoblocki and Alice Lethbridge took the men’s and women’s victories respectively.

Men’s competition holder Bialoblocki (NOPINZ) set a blistering time of 42 minutes and 58 seconds on his last visit to the South Wales course but was 23 seconds slower on this occasion, clocking 43.21.

The R25/3h is known for its fast times starting on a long downhill section before joining the A465 dual carriageway in the South Wales valley, turning for home and finishing on a slight drag but before the ramp up to the start.

Bialoblocki continued his winning streak which has seen him clinch victories from his last two starts on the course and the Revo Racing 16.8.

Alice Lethbridge

On this occasion he was chased home by Kieron Davies (DRAG2ZERO) in second clocking 45.48 while Phil Williams (Liverpool Phoenix CC) took third in 46.35.

Junior rider Joshua Sandman (Team Backstedt Bike Performance) finished in 47-29 for fourth place, just two seconds short of the men’s junior competition record set recently by Zach Bridges (Ribble Pro Cycling) on the same course.

In the women’s event Lethbridge took her fourth victory of the season on the course, clocking a time of 51 minutes and 22 seconds.

Lethbridge clocked a previous best of 50.10 on the South Wales course earlier this month but didn’t feel in top condition on this occasion.

Marcin Bialoblocki

“I wasn’t feeling very good today but considering that I took the win,” she said. “I was surprised to win with how I felt during the race, a wins a win. It was also a bit more blustery that I would have liked.”

She was chased home by team-mate Vicky Gill who took 36 seconds off her personal best to finish in 52.08.

Veteran rider Angela Carpenter (..a3crg) took two minutes off her previous best time to clinch third in 52.30.

It was also a good day for 17-year-old Georgi who has spent the spring winning road races on international scene.

Her time of 52 minutes and 54 seconds took 57 seconds off her own (yet to be ratified) record from April 1 this year.
