Sandman and Chapman power to victories in Ludlow 10
Joshua Sandman (Team Backstedt Bike Performance) continued his impressive season by clinching victory in the Ludlow CC 10 meanwhile Charlotte Chapman (Nova Riders) won the women’s event.
Sandman, 17, from near Ross-on-Wye, finished second in the Junior National 10-Mile Championships last season and has already took wins in the Stratford CC 10 and Port Talbot Wheelers 2-up alongside a busy road campaign.
The Ludlow 10 which formed part of the Shropshire Cycling Clubs Friction Hydraulics Series saw riders start on the A49 outside Leominster before heading towards Ludlow and turning for home.
Despite the course not being pan flat Sandman clocked a winning time of 19 minutes and 40 seconds and was the only rider to dip under the 20 minutes mark.
He was chased home by SCCA Private Member riders Matthew Garthwaite finishing 30 seconds behind for second in 20.10 and Daniel Watts finishing third in 20.57.
Fastest veteran on the day Simon Garrett (Worcester St.Johns CC) took fourth while Stephen Minton (Ludlow Brewery RT) was the quickest on standard.
Chapman was a comfortable winner in the women’s event finishing in 24.26 ahead of team-mate Jenny Newton in second with 25.12 and Jenny York (Mid Shropshire Wheelers) in third clocking 25.56.
Sandman was also quickest junior ahead of Kieran Morris (Oswestry Paragon) in 21.47 and William Hints (Ludlow CC) third in 23.08.
